Amazon.com and its wholly owned subsidiary BookSurge are launching a print-on-demand program to help publishers sell lower-volume titles more economically, writes Internet Retailer. Copies are printed when ordered, allowing publishers to provide out-of-print titles and introduce new, lower-volume titles.
BookSurge will provide - for a limited time - discounted book scanning, with no upfront investment for the publisher, as well as free setup for titles with print-on-demand-ready digital files. The titles will receive the same retail treatment as other book titles on Amazon.com.
