Google has acquired blog stat/analytics tool Measure Map from design firm Adaptive Path, paidContent writes, citing emails that the companies sent to clients. Jeffrey Veen, product director for Measure Map, and other members of the development team, will join Google. Measure Map is in alpha testing and looks like a "lite version" of Google Analytics, according to WebProNews.
It adds that the service "takes a friendly visual approach to delivering blog stats to its users," and Google will likely face an enthusiastic response, as it did with the release of the free version of Google Analytics (formerly Urchin).
Veen wrote on the official Google Blog: "Today, as the Measure Map team joins Google, our mission remains the same: to build the best possible user experience so people can understand and appreciate the effect their blogs - their words and ideas - can have."
