The anticipated rate of U.S. internet advertising growth in 2006 will be exceeded only by that of Hispanic network TV in 2006, according to a forecast by TNS Media Intelligence, reports ClickZ. Online advertising - not including search advertising - is expected to grow 9.1 percent in 2006 and account for six percent of total ad spend in 2006; the rate of growth for the first nine months of last year was 11.5 percent.
Though TNS does not include search advertising in its forecasts, Steven Fredericks, Media Intelligence President and CEO, told ClickZ: "If you add search it [online advertising] will exceed 10 percent [of all ad spend], which is a fairly major milestone."
Total spending on advertising in the U.S. is expected to grow 5.4 percent, reaching $152.3 billion in 2006. The ad segment expected to grow most - 10.4 percent - is Hispanic network TV.
