iTV firm Hires Adam Gerber, Partners with Publicis

Internet TV firm Brightcove has hired new ad execs, including former MediaVest Worldwide senior VP Adam Gerber, and has entered into a partnership with Publicis Groupe Media Ventures for help with developing an ad business model, writes ClickZ. "The management team has a mix of executives with backgrounds in internet platforms, digital cable and satellite distribution, broadband distribution, online portals and media, as well as technology focused on this problem area. Now we're adding some executives from the broadband advertising arena," Brightcove's founder and CEO, Jeremy Allaire, is quoted as saying.

Brightcove has also developed a platform for publishing and distributing video content using Flash. Publishers can upload their video, categorize it with metadata, choose a design template, create graphic overlays with their brand, and publish the Flash file. They can sell and serve their own ads, run ads from Brightcove's ad network or offer the content for sale. Brightcove offers the tools for production and syndication, and handles the billing and collection.

Content owners can define where and how frequently ads appear and can limit the maximum number of ads per session. Publishers can target ads by daypart and geography as well as contextually, based on the metadata they have supplied.
