CNET reports that Google is testing a new variation of AdSense that allows sites to send a text or banner ad along with syndicated content using RSS feeds, and get paid by the click. The Microsoft-centered Longhornblogs.com blog is one of the first to experiment with the RSS; its ads are in HTML using images and links, and Google is likely to introduce a beta in the next few weeks, according to one of the blog's authors.
MediaPost writes that in November Yahoo announced that it was looking into serving RSS ads, and in February BoingBoing.net said it was experimentally hosting ads in its RSS feeds through a partnership with Feedburner and Overture.
Also in February, Kanoodle and Moreover announced a joint effort to create publisher tools for serving ads into RSS feeds.
