With millions of ad dollars up for grabs, Yahoo News and Google News are preparing for "the Digital Age equivalent of an old-fashioned newspaper war," writes the Los Angeles Times. Yahoo News is the most-visited news site in the U.S., and Google News is one of the fastest growing.
Meanwhile, the Associated Press is concerned about Google, but has not sued or asked for the removal of its stories from the news service. AP is in negotiations with Google, trying to persuade it to buy a license. (The LA Times has itself complained about Google news in the past.)
Agence France-Presse sued Google last month, alleging copyright infringement. Google responded by expunging AFP content from its news listings.
