Microsoft and Major League Baseball are calling it quits half-way through their super-expensive $40 million internet content deal, according to PaidContent. Microsoft stole the deals for MLB content from a series of small sports-oriented sites that previously held the rights, in hopes that the TV content in particular would help drive its own subscribers for premium video subscriptions. It didn't. MSN Premium subscribers who signed up for the baseball package were told in late March that their subscriptions - which had been set to renew automatically - would end March 31.
