Proving the rumors circulating on affiliate discussion boards true, Google will announce on Friday that it will show only one text ad per search query for affiliates and parent companies sharing the same web address. Google said it designed the policy to create a more relevant set of results, with visitors having a more diverse set of options among the AdWords listings. In the past, many redundant affiliate links to the same site would crowd out other options. Google said it will now show only the ad with the highest Ad Rank. The policy will go into effect sometime this month.
