Report: Falk Ad Server Infected Viewers with Virus

The Register: Bofra exploit hits our ad serving supplier

Popular ad server system Falk AG reportedly infected some site visitors with an Internet Explorer-borne trojan device. The company reportedly found on Saturday morning that some ads were infected with the Bofra exploit. By afternoon, the exploit had been stopped. Falk reports that fewer than 0.1 percent of U.S. ads were infected and the E.U. region saw rates approaching two percent. Only the AdSolution Global product was apparently effected, sparing customers of AdSolution Classic, MailSolution and AdSolution|fx. A new Falk release indicates the firm believes the infection was deliberately placed by a person exploiting an insecure load balancing server.
