Apple to Boost its Own Desktop Search

CNET: Apple details plans to Spotlight desktop search

Apple is making more rumblings about its Spotlight desktop search feature, slated to come out in its next major operating system release. The feature set sounds an awfully lot like that of Google's Desktop Search product, but Mac users will be happy to see Apple join the desktop search fray, as Google's commitment to developing for the "other" operating system seems tepid. Apple's new Tiger OS is slated to come out at the end of 2005's second quarter, and Microsoft's new OS, also including a desktop search element, may see the light of day as early as a year after that.
