AdWeek: Royal Caribbean Sales With TiVo
Tivo sealed a deal with Royal Caribbean to offer interactive ads through its digital video recorders (DVRs). Tivo has long been watched closely for how it will address advertising, as it has the technical ability not only to let viewers skip over commercials, but also to add commercial content of its own that allows for more user selectivity and interactivity. GM, Coca-Cola and Nissan, among others, are already trying out the Tivo DVR advertising. The interactivity isn't yet all that exciting, though. Viewers watching Royal Caribbean ads will have the option of downloading a one-hour infomercial.
