ClickZ: ContextWeb Steps Into the Contextual Advertising Ring
Touting a new targeting network and $3 million of venture funding, ContextWeb announced it has formed a contextually-targeted online ad network broken up in to about 500 categories. Where search is all about keywords, a ContextWeb executive said contextual marketing is done best when it instead focuses on categories. Just a couple weeks ago, Tacoda published what it positioned as its own first stab at a standard for contextual categories. The ContextWeb network allows advertisers to bid on categories at three different levels of hierarchy.
