MLB Sued for Violating Sports Coverage Patents

CNET: Suit accuses MLB of online patent infringement

An intellectual property firm sued Major League Baseball (MLB) for allegedly infringing several patents that involve real-time sports coverage. The features that DDB Technologies claims are covered include MLB's simulations of live games, its video highlights reels and its fantasy baseball statistics tracking application. Some sports sites, like Sportsline, have already avoided the patent case headaches by licensing the technologies from DDB.
