A man wearing an ad for online gaming site Golden Palace (and a tutu) who dived into an Olympic swimming pool was fined 300 Euros and released on bail. He appealed a five-month prison sentence. He had interrupted the men's three-meter diving competition.

Online measurement firm Hitwise yesterday noted that official Olympics sponsors' websites have actually seen a decline in online traffic share leading up to the games. Answering a MarketingVOX query this morning, Hitwise reported that www.goldenpalace.com visits jumped 53 percent on the day of the stunt, jumping to 34th place in the gambling category, up from 49th place. Over the same day, McDonalds.com rose 23 percent, Homedepot.com sunk 3 percent and Visa.com sunk a further 22 percent. Visa reported two years ago that its Olympics sponsorship extension involved a $40 million payment to the Olympics Committee.
