China Hones Net Monitors on Pornography

eCommerce Times: China Cracks Down on Internet Porn

China is pushing a multi-front "anti-porn" effort to control web content, including monitoring of people using the internet, computer tracking and filtering. The system has been shown in the past to be very porous, with unclear responsibilities among municipalities and the Party as to who is responsible for what sort of monitoring. The new organization effort is using online pornography as the information content on which the government's control systems will be honed. Civil rights advocates fear this will then become the mechanism by which the Chinese Communist Party will restrict access to democracy and religious sites.
