Toys 'R' Us Gets Order Against Amazon.com

RedNova: Judge: Amazon, Toys 'R' Us Must Work Together

A New Jersey state judge has been mostly finding for Toys 'R' Us in its contract dispute with Amazon.com. Toys 'R' Us complained that Amazon was ignoring the exclusive arrangements they had agreed to together, allowing other toy retailers to sell competing products online. The judge ruled that Amazon must stop allowing the practice prior to trial and, most recently, awarded Toys 'R' Us legal fees in a complaint that Amazon had ignored that original order. The judge said she would fine Amazon an additional $1,000 for each product found sold in competition to Toys 'R' Us on its site that Amazon declines to immediately remove. Complicating the case a bit is the recent announcement by Toys 'R' Us that it may be exiting the toy business.
