InternetNews.com: IETF Prepares To Forward Sender ID
Microsoft's anti-spam identity validation technology, Sender ID, is set to be put forward as an official web standard by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). The technology is a simple list of domains and the corresponding IP addresses from which messages are allowed to send out communications claiming to be from those domains. If an email server using Sender ID receives emails from elsewhere that claim to be from those domains, it will reject them. The IETF next will try to uncover any latent security problems with the standard and then submit it for official approval.
