Wired: Yahoo Buys Web E-Mail Firm
Yahoo will buy Oddpost, an innovative Internet email service that boasts features most often found in commercial email applications like Eudora. Oddpost has earned a reputation for adding or even inventing new features, such as drag-and-drop interface elements and automating content updates from blogs. A message to existing Oddpost users stated that Yahoo will develop a similar new email application for its enormous network and fold the Oddpost subscribers into it.
The founder of the Google-owned Blogger service, Evan Williams, posted a humorous blog entry on the Oddpost acquisition congratulating the acquired firm. "I shoulda made friends with them when I had the chance…. Then again, it's useful now that we're sworn enemies that we were never friends."
