Online promotions, viral marketing and just plain lucky alignments of content drove a bunch of changes in the comScore Media Metrix list of top sites for the month. The Subservient Chicken put Burger King among the top sites, seeing about 1.5 million visitors. Similarly, a box top promotion driving cereal buyers to the web pushed General Mills site traffic up 37 percent. National Geographic saw its recent reports on near meteor misses and cicadas boost its position a full 86 percent.
