Subservient Chicken Defended

iMedia: Jaffe Juice: Chicken Soup for the Marketer

Joe Jaffe likes the chicken. Brand pundits have been arguing loudly over whether or not Burger King's new Subservient Chicken site will prove to help or harm the restaurant chain's brand. Most recently, Tom Hespos wrote fairly negatively about the campaign. But Jaffe thinks that, to the degree the ad agency integrates this character into other brand efforts, it can be a resounding success.

Hitwise provided MarketingVOX with data showing that within a couple weeks, the site was beating Comedy Central and Jokes.com on the Internet comedy site rankings and was driving about one in six Burger King main site visitors.
