AdWeek: Wieden's 'Cog' Wins Grandy

Honda Cog ad

Wieden & Kennedy won the Grandy Award yesterday for its "Cog" spot, a brilliant video production of the ultimate Rube Goldberg machine, using parts from a Honda. The spot aired briefly on television and then enjoyed a very long viral campaign life on the Internet. Better still, it enjoyed its very own viral parody.

"It's so ahead of its time it's almost unjudgeable," said judge Guy Seese, creative director at Cole & Weber/Red Cell in Portland, probably unaware that the ad was actually an homage to a decades-old art film.
