Reuters: Satellite cos eye free digital recorders -Murdoch
At Morgan Stanley's global media and communications conference in Boston on Monday, Rupert Murdoch said he expects satellite companies to start giving away personal video recorders (PVRs) for free, or at a vastly reduced cost, as part of a move to combat competition from cable providers. Although PVR penetration is currently fewer than one million households in the US, this statement of intent is likely to create further concern within the ad industry, where PVR's are already creating serious anxiety.
