MediaWeek: DirecTV Teams Up With Nielsen
As television networks struggle to maintain their relevance in an increasingly interactive world, DirecTV has signed an agreement with Nielsen Media Research to measure ad-supported networks carried by DirecTV.
Neilsen will provide daily measurement figures for DirecTV's sports and general entertainment categories. With this deal, DirecTV hopes to prove its worth as a media category similar to recent efforts by TiVo to provide ad viewership analysis.
