Apple Goes Safari on Microsoft's Turf

According to Smarthouse News, Apple has just developed a Safari Web browser for Windows-based PCs, taking Microsoft on in its own playground.

The Safari browser for Windows-based PC users will be pitted against Microsoft's Internet Explorer, which holds 78 percent market share among browser users, and Mozilla's Firefox, the browser of choice for 15 percent of users.

Apple recently also made the iPod and iTunes store Windows-compatible, marking this move as just one more step beyond the Mac world in the quest for new users.

At the Worldwide Developer's Conference, CEO Steve Jobs of Apple pointed out Safari has captured five percent of the browser market in just a handful of years.

"What we've got here is the most innovative browser in the world and the most powerful browser in the world," he stated.
