Winamp Remote, AOL's media player that allows users to stream their music collection onto any PC, is going mobile in a beta version that launched at the end of last week, according to MediaPost. Ad support is also on its way to the free player.
The new feature allows users to stream music via their mobile phones without downloading and/or installing software. the service will offer consumers the ability to play back music on their mobile phone, as they would on PCs.
"This is a very customizable media player; users can create skins and plug-ins making it whatever you want it to look like," said Matthew Callaway, product director for AOL's Winamp and SHOUTcast services.
