Reuters (via PC World): Is the End Near for Netscape?

AOL is laying off most of the programming staff for Netscape, leading most industry analysts to conclude that the browser that started it all is not long for this world. This shortly after Microsoft announced it would stop upgrading Internet Explorer as a standalone product. Great, we watched a red-hot battle for browser dominance just a few years ago end with a whimper. I wonder what this means for online technical innovation.
