AOL parent Time Warner, which had already hired Citigroup to find buyers for AOL's French and German units, has now added AOL U.K. to the list, reports PC Pro, citing a report in today's Guardian (U.K.) newspaper. Citigroup is looking for a buyer or possibly partner for the internet access side of the business.
Time Warner is seeking to retain the AOL U.K. content portal site - and attendant online advertising revenues, search, according to vnunet.com.
Although AOL does not break out performance by individual international units, the British business is thought to have some 2.2 million customers, including 1.3 million who use broadband, and the business is apparently profitable.
