Time Warner plans to reduce by 1,300 the number of jobs at its AOL unit - a 7 percent staff reduction - as part of an effort to reduce costs by $1 billion, reports Bloomberg News. Some 780 jobs will be lost when AOL closes a call center in Jacksonville, Fla.; it is also cutting jobs at call centers in Tucson and Ogden (Utah). In the first quarter, a 26 percent increase in online advertising revenue did not make up for the loss of 835,000 U.S. AOL subscribers.
