AOL Struggles to Ride Broadband Wave

Atlanta Journal Constitution: World's Shift to Broadband Pinches AOL

Let's face it, AOL's trouble's boil down to this: it's the Internet on training wheels. In it's role as an ISP, it's hard to draw any conclusions about the fate of online ads just because AOL stuggles with selling them, as it's not really a pure media company like most other web publishing businesses. And as an ISP, it's claim to fame has been making the Internet easier to use, yet there comes a point in most AOL users' lives when they're ready to graduate on to the real thing. By the time you're ready to pay the extra price for broadband, you're already an Internet junkie, which de facto means, you're no longer satisfied with AOL's sterilized approach to the Net. That's my $0.02 on it, anyway.
