AOL launched a teen-oriented blog application designed to give parents more control over how much access the outside world has to the bloggy thoughts of their progeny. Parents can make the blogs accessible only to a controlled list or fully open. Blogs of kids ranging from 13 to 15 years old will be necessarily limited to be read only by those approved by parents. It may prove interesting to see if the permission-seeking requirements ("Hello, Mrs. Cleaver, may I please have permission to read your daughter's blog?") renders AOL blog addresses undesirable, much as AOL email addresses have become laden with associations of the unsophisticated.
