AOL Changes Mind, Will Retain Whitelist

AOL has decided to retain its Enhanced Whitelist, a company spokesman has told DM News, despite AOL's recent announcement that its adoption of Goodmail CertifiedEmail would result in phasing out the whitelist. "The Enhanced Whitelist is going to remain a useful tool. People who are on today will continue to use [its] privileges and benefits," AOL spokesman Nicholas Graham is quoted as having said. AOL's about-face has come after it confronted a tempest of protest from email senders and providers in the days after its initial announcement.

However, it is still retaining its relationship with Goodmail. "We hope that people will slowly come off the Enhanced Whitelist and sign up with Goodmail," Graham said.
