AOL Awarded $5 Million in Spam Case

U.S. District Judge Claude Hilton issued a summary judgment this week against Christopher William Smith of Prior Lake, Minn., who sent billions of spam emails; he was ordered to pay $5.3 million in damages to AOL and $287,000 in legal fees, reports DM News. Smith is in jail awaiting trial on federal drug charges having to do with an online pharmacy that he operated.
