Internet Retailer: Online retail sales go flat for week ending Aug. 1, comScore reports
The week ending on the first day of August showed no growth in e-commerce from the year before, according to comScore. Sales just scraped past $1 billion, but $3 million less than last year's figure for the same week. So far this year, online retail sales are up only 22 percent, with much of that growth seen in the beginning of the year. Travel spending was up to $1.13 billion, actually beating out retail sales, up 40 percent from the same week last year. In the offline world, retail sales experienced healthy growth, up five percent, according to ShopperTrak.
