And the Tables Turn: Video-Sharing Site Sues Major Music Label

In a reversal of how these things usually work, video-sharing site Veoh is suing Universal Music Group, reports Variety.

The lawsuit follows what Veoh says are a series of threats from the music label. Like other video sites on the internet, Veoh has fallen under criticism by media companies because users sometimes share copyrighted material. But Veoh itself has, to date, not been sued over that or other issues.

Veoh is seeking a jury trial that it hopes will establish guidelines for what kind of responsibilities it, and sites like it, have for policing uploaded material. Most sites say they're not liable for copyright infringement as long as they remove the offending videos as soon as they're flagged by the holder.
