ANA Defends Upfront Process, Bridles at Criticism

ANA Blog: NUDG: What Really Happened

The president of the Association of National Advertisers wrote a defensive blog entry, complaining that criticism of the recent conference to discuss the strange network upfront television buying process was unfair and a product of unreasonable expectations. Particularly nettlesome to President Bob Liodice was a recent MediaPost column that called the talks a failure. Liodice, one of the key organizers of the recent meeting between networks and major upfront buyers, said that the purpose of the meeting was to jawbone about minor changes, not to restructure everything. The fact that nothing came of it was, in fact, meeting expectations.
