My God ... I'm evolving.
Ad groups joined broadcasters in a much-publicized effort to help advertisers transition to digital TV with the rest of the nation on February 17, 2009.
The initiative, dubbed "The DTV Transition: Keeping the Ad Community in the Loop," consists of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA), the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Television Bureau of Advertising. It will provide the ad community with regular updates on the transition, and assuage concerns posed by compliance-concerned agencies. Messages will be delivered through webcasts, email notifications, one-on-one meetings, and on the websites of each association involved.
On February 17, 2009, all full-power TV stations in the nation must switch off their analog signals and broadcast exclusively in digital. A fairly recent survey found 36 percent of consumers are not prepared for this transition. Senior citizens may be especially vulnerable to transitionary woes.
