Amazon Opens Auto Parts Store; Sued by IBM

Amazon.com on Monday announced an automotive parts and accessories store featuring new, used and remanufactured parts.

Over 1 million products are available in the Automotive and Accessories section of Amazon.com, featuring items from core brands (such as Actron, Fram, Lund, Raybestos and Schumacher, among others) as well as 250 independent auto, truck and motorcycle parts retailers (such as Auto Barn, Midway Auto Supply and Summit Racing Equipment) writes Reuters.

Meanwhile, IBM on Monday said it had filed two patent infringement lawsuits against Amazon, accusing it of willfully violating various tech patents for displaying internet advertising and allowing users to order items from an electronic catalog, reports Reuters.

The suits were filed in two District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas - one in the Tyler Division and the other in the Lufkin Division - and seek unspecified damages. The lawsuits come after nearly four years of attempts by IBM to resolve its concerns with Amazon.com, IBM said.
