Amazon Pacts With Warner for MP3 Sales

No DRM nonsense here

Warner Music Group, known for jealously guarding its artists from online distribution (legitimate or otherwise), has signed on with Amazon's DRM-free music service.

Warner Music downloads will be exclusively available through Amazon, though the tracks will be playable across all MP3 players. The decision comes as the label seeks to meet consumer demand for more interoperability.

Artists recording under the Warner Music Group label or its subsidiaries include Missy Elliott, Enya, Sean Paul, Genesis, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins. WMG joins Universal in availing its tracks via Amazon instead of iTunes.

Earlier this year, Warner Music head Edgar Bronfman dismissed suggestions it would remove DRM copy protection from its online offerings.
