AltaVista: AltaVista Toolbar

Following in Google's footsteps, AltaVista introduced its own version of a search toolbar. The features are similar to Google's, and, notably, it includes a pop-up blocker. There are a few unique features, such as access to AltaVista's translation feature and multimedia search.

As more and more tools with pop-up blockers find their way into users' toolbars, the much debated ad unit may soon become an irrelevant blip on the timeline of Internet advertising.
