Internet Retailer reports that Isobar, the interactive unit of Aegis, announced it will buy Boston suburb-based web site developer Molecular for $31.5 million over two years. Just this past December, Isobar picked up major search marketing firm iProspect, also for top dollar, in a deal said to approach $50 million.
Isobar has been an acquisitions tear in the last year, picking up 11 companies around the world, helping to meet its overly-ambitious stated goal of having Isobar account for more than half of Aegis's billings.
Isobar is best known in the U.S. as the Aegis brand under which Carat Interactive and Freestyle Interactive reside. The Molecular purchase will add another 120 employees to Isobar's headcount. Management is expected to stay in place.
