Aegis Group, itself rumored to be a takeover target, today announced its acquisition of glue, a U.K.-based digital creative shop - the latest addition to Aegis's Isobar interactive media network - as part of its designs to make Isobar the world's largest interactive media network, reports MediaPost's Joe Mandese. Isobar now has a global digital media workforce of 1,100, and in the past year it has grown from 26 offices in 17 markets to 58 offices in 29 markets. Aegis agreed to pay up to $26.6 million over three years for 100 percent equity in glue.
Because many of the acquisitions also provide creative services, Isobar is helping to transform Aegis into a creative resource, most of which involves online media but increasingly includes other media, such as TV.
Meanwhile, Aegis has become the subject of takeover speculation after French corporate raider Vincent Bollore recently became its third-largest shareholder with a 6 percent stake.
