The weather and a Land Rover

Mobile ad firm AdMob launched a global iPhone ad marketplace. In tandem, it also plans to give $1 million in advertising away to developers to promote whatever iPhone applications or services they create.
The new ads — Brand and Performance formats — can function in either the iPhone browser or behave as native (that is, desktop) applications.
The ads are graphically wed to iPhone-specific actions, enabling users to enjoy the following while they are exposed to a marketing message: iTunes, the App Store, audio access, video, phone calls, maps and browser access.

Advertisers currently working with AdMob include Electronic Arts (EA), Land Rover, Ford, Jaguar and The Mummy, a movie franchise released by Universal Pictures. Publishers include MovieTickets.com and AccuWeather.
The company claims to serve over 3.5 billion mobile banner and text ads per month. It was founded in 2006.
