Ad Council Wants You to Stay in School

Nothing like peer pressure
to persuade

Advertising Council is going multimedia online to encourage kids to stay in high school, reports ClickZ.

The campaign, which aims to keep youth from dropping out of high school, extends from an early phase in traditional media. The new push will involve MySpace, YouTube, text messages and online display ads.

Profile pages will be set up on MySpace, Facebook and YouTube that feature testimonials from kids in danger of not graduating.

Messages encouraging kids to stay in school will also be sent out via email and text message. Supporters can encourage each other through the same vehicles.

For the display ad execution, the Ad Council will take advantage of inventory space donated from major networks like Yahoo, Google and MSN. Every year the networks offer inventory for pro bono efforts like this.

More components will be added to the campaign in the coming months, including a Facebook widget.
