In reaction to Morgan Stanley's and BP's recent demands that their ads be pulled if any negative editorial would simultaneously appear in a publication, the American Business Media issued a press release Wednesday encouraging its "member companies and their 4,500-plus print and electronic titles to maintain the highest ethical standards and journalistic integrity." BtoB Online also reports that ABM president and CEO Gordon T. Hughes II said in a statement: "Overtures or threats made by advertisers to pull ads with intent to steer content, or advertiser requests to review content prior to publication, undermine universal journalistic ethical standards."
