Meebo Unifies SocNets, Content Sites on Engagement Platform

IM service aggregation site Meebo has launched "multi-network IM access," which enables users to unify other social graphs on its platform, including major social networks and gaming sites. A sharing interface also enables them to swap content with greater ease.

"Content sites interested in increasing the volume of content sharing, but without their own social graph, can use the multi-network IM feature to expand their reach and drive social interactions," the company said.

Mother-driven site CafeMom availed the Meebo features to its user base this week. Its audience is now able to add friends from Facebook, MySpace, Gmail, AIM and other IM services directly to their CafeMom friends lists — potentially boosting CafeMom's total subscriber base.

Users can also share links and content, send links as posts directly to Facebook/Twitter, convey email or IM across Meebo and other networks joined within.

In October 2008, Meebo released a platform that enabled third-party websites to integrate its features. 75 publishers have registered in total, bringing 15.3 million unique users from partner sites to the service in May — boosting overall monthly reach to 50 million uniques.

According to CEO and co-founder Seth Sternberg, "Users on Meebo share 75 million links every month." He added, "Partners will benefit from increased social engagement and we expect them to see faster growth through sharing features that let users instantly send links to any of their friends."

Meebo says partner sites enjoy significant increases in user engagements. Sites on the network see an average of 20% of US site visitors using the site on monthly, and every active user sends 50 IMs per day from Meebo itself.

Those interested in incorporating Meebo into their sites must make a development commitment of a few days, the company added.
