A dollar to be made
for every fetish
A Consumer Reports study found the average American woman owns 19 pairs of shoes. With that in mind, a new video site called ShoeTube.TV hopes to feed on addiction to footwear, a $44.2 billion industry.
Launching on Valentine's Day, the ad-supported web channel has already secured Nine West as an advertiser. The site will sell video ad overlays, "ShoeTube Boutique" microsites, banners, and contest and polling efforts.
Geared toward women 18 to 44, ShoeTube will feature eight regular segments with titles such as "Pimp my Pump" and "Real or Deal," which challenges women to find differences between real and knock-off shoes.
The site also hired fashion writers to blog about shoes and build forums. Shoe fanatics can comment as well as upload their own shoe videos.
