1-800-Flowers Brings Loyalty Program to Facebook via Widgetry


Is a digital rose still a rose?

1-800-Flowers.com is taking full advantage of Facebook availing its code to programmers by rewarding Facebookers with incentives for actions they perform on the social networking site.

Customer management solutions provider Loyalty Lab created a Facebook widget for 1-800-Flowers that tracks user actions. Members of Flowers' Fresh Rewards loyalty program are rewarded every time they refer a friend to the retailer, according to DM News.

Other functions in development give users the option of buying real flowers when they purchase virtual flowers for someone. Another showers users with points and discounts every time someone clicks on a flower widget on their site, turning each user into an ad seller of sorts.
